The Phillies look to add to the shaky from last night with Cliff Lee on the Mound. The Nationals roll out Garrett Mock from the trash heap, who in his last start lasted on three innings and gave up six runs on seven hits. It smells like the Phillies are going to feast on the National pitching tonight and the fans dont have to bite their nails when the Phillies go to the bullpen.

Will Charlie ever decide Lidge isnt the closer? It seems everyday we see a story in the Forum where Charlie still has confidence. Are we asking too much from Myers in being the closer since its been less then a week since he come back?

One can only hope that last night was a sign. Pulling Lidge in the 9th was a great move....hopefully it did something to Lidge. If not, then there is always Myers. Lets go Phils!!!!!

Wow Raul doubles - He is 8 for his last 16. Hopefully he is breaking out of his slump. If you look at his career he is just a streaky players. Nice to hear all the Raaauuuulll chants in DC. Werth singles home Ibanez for a 1-1 tie.

Adam Dunn is destined for the AL as a DH. He cant play any field position and he strikes out all the time. 3-1 Phils top of the 5th.

Cliff Lee gives up some of the most awkward hits I've ever seen. Need to score some runs here so that Charlie doesn't have a chance to put Hurricane Lidge in!

Wow that was quick. Phillies only up by one now 4-3. I agree with AlexCuse Cliff Lee seems to jam a bunch of batters but they fall in for hits. Does Pedro Martinez have the last Gerry Curl in the Majors?

back to back jacks by werth and feliz to gain the lead back at 6-4 in the 8th. Werth has had an amazing year. He has been pretty consist all year. Now lets keep Lidge out of the damn game.

Phillies beat Washington! Madson should now be the full time closer! Great defense... Utley to Rollins... game over! Still 6 games up in the division. :D

Ibanez, Werth and Feliz! That's 15 straight solo home runs to tie the Cubbies! I'm starting to feel better about this team ... still some sloppy play, though but Charlie will let them know about that later! :p

I don't know about that - I think Madson has actually been worse, percentage-wise, in converting save opportunities. Alternating them might be a good bet.

The Phillies closers must be the best in the league at having game-tying hits turned into game-ending double (or triple) plays!
