Last year-when did you "know"?

As Philadelphia fans, we know better than to count our chickens before they hatch. But during last season's Phillies run to the WFC, was there a point where you just "knew" it was going to happen? I mean, prior to Hinske swinging over Lidge's 0-2 slider?

For me, there were three specific moments. When Victorino hit the grand slam off Sabathia, I thought we might have something special going on. But the Stairs homer against the Dodgers was the first time in my life as a fan of the four major Philly teams that I honestly felt we were going all the way. I was at Game 4 of the World Series (the guy sitting next to me ended up with Howard's second home run ball after several deflections), and leaving I just remember thinking to myself, "This is really gonna happen, isn't it?"

Of course, I didn't dare mention any of this stuff out loud at the time, because if I had and things had turned out differently, I don't think I would've wanted that hanging over me!

I was in the Dominican Republic for games 1 thru 4. Every game was televised thank god. For me it was when some random Dominican saw me with my hat on and said "Sorry, Tampa win".. From then I just knew we had it.

Also, we were flying home during game 5 (part 1) and I remember trying like hell to somehow get the game on the radio to no avail. When I heard the game was in a rain delay I knew they were waiting for me to get home first. I ended up watching part 2 of the game at Miller's alehouse and showered everyone with beer. I'll never forget it.

When I got the call from my cousin Josh saying he got tickets to Game 5 of the world series I knew we had it won. Of course throughout the playoffs I knew it was going to be a special post season but like a typical Philly fan I didnt want to get my hopes up.

Yeah, I didnt want to get hopes up either. But I think after we beat CC and the Brewers. I knew we were going to the WS. I just knew it.

I had a feeling after the Matt Stairs homer in the NLCS as well but When we went into Tampa and won Game 1 and took back Home field I knew we had it in the bag. But of course watching the next 4 games where an emotional rollercoaster. Then that BS Game 5a and 5b but when Geoff Jenkins hit that double to start game 5B yeah the celebrating began.

The reason the Phils won in the playoff besides the great pitching and timely hitting was the Defense. They must have turned what seemed to be a 1000 double plays in key spots in each game.

Lets hope this October is a sweet as last. GO PHILS
