It was a light but prolific week for the Flyers, who won both games they played by a combined score of 13-3, hammering the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 8-1 and cruising past the Florida Panthers, 5-2. The workload is a little heavier this week, as the Flyers will hit the ice for four games, two at home and two on the road. Here's a look at the matchups:
Monday, November 15: Ottawa Senators (7:00, Comcast SportsNet)
Tuesday, November 16: at Montreal Canadiens (7:00, Vs.)
Thursday, November 18: Tampa Bay Lightning (7:00, Comcast SportsNet)
Saturday, November 20: at Washington Capitals (7:00, Comcast SportsNet)
This will be the first of four meetings between the Flyers and Senators...The Flyers return to Montreal for the first time since a 3-0 win in Game 4 of the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals. That victory gave the Flyers a 3-1 lead in a best-of-seven series they'd go on to win in five games. This is also the first of four meetings between the Flyers and Canadiens...The Flyers and Lightning met at the Wells Fargo Center on October 14, with Tampa Bay coming away with a 3-2 victory. The two teams won't meet in Philadelphia again during the regular season, but will face off twice in Tampa Bay on March 1 and March 15...The Flyers will be making their second and final regular season trip to Washington. They lost a 3-2 overtime decision there on November 7. There will be two games in Philadelphia to be played on January 18 and March 22

So they locked up Jeff Carter long term eh? I'm sure you know how I feel about Carter by now so I won't comment on the deal. But come playoff time I won't shut up about it I'm sure :(

Forgot to mention prior to last night's game, a moment of silence was held for Daron Richardson, the 14-year old daughter of Senators assistant and former Flyer Luke Richardson, who took her own life over the weekend. Godspeed to the Richardson family in an awfully difficult and heartbreaking time

Pronger with a blast through traffic, but Price makes the save

mplant
11-16-2010, 06:26 PM
Now the Flyers will be two men shorthanded as Pronger is called for delay of game after his clearing attempt went into the stands. Looked like Gionta may have tipped it but the Habs get the benefit this time

11-18-2010, 06:10 PM
Hartnell with a chance in front but Ellis made the stop
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:15 PM
SCORE! Zherdev denied in front, but Nodl grabs the rebound and slides it past Ellis for the game's first goal 4:21 in
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:17 PM
SCORE! Zherdev off a centering feed from Carle, Ellis has no prayer, 2-0 just over five minutes in. Those two goals came 42 seconds apart
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:21 PM
First penalty of the game goes against the Flyers as Pronger is called for interference 7:29 in
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:23 PM
Lightning get on the board on their first shot of the game as Stamkos fires one over Bobrovsky's right shoulder. Power play goal makes it 2-1 just 8:20 into the game
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:25 PM
Just like that we're tied as Hall jams a rebound home 16 seconds after the Stamkos goal
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:27 PM
SCORE! A bouncing puck in front ends up behind Ellis and in the net. Carter hit it first, JVR had a whack at it. At any rate, the Flyers go up 3-2 midway through the first. Carter will get credit for the goal not too long after Ellis had made a pretty nice save on him after being set up by a Giroux steal
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:33 PM
Downie taken down by Carle, penalty. Hooking the call. Nothing blatant, but I suppose Carle's stick did get in Downie's midsection a little
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:35 PM
Malone alone in front, off the post. Bobrovsky may have gotten a piece of it
Giroux clears the puck into the stands from his own zone. Not deflected, so that's a delay of game
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:36 PM
Malone denied twice on one-timers, but the third time is the charm as he gets the last one past Bobrovsky, 3-3. The goal came eight seconds before Carle's penalty was set to expire, so the Lightning will still be on the power play for 1:07
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:40 PM
SCORE! Coburn blasts one from the point past Ellis and we've got a roller hockey game breaking out, 4-3. Looked like Hartnell tipped that one. Ellis will get the hook, Smith will take over. Still four and a half minutes left in the first
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:40 PM
For now, Coburn gets credit for that one
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:43 PM
Fans have already gotten their free breakfast sandwich from McDonald's. So if they score eight goals, do you get two for free?
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:46 PM
SCORE! Hartnell deflects an O'Donnell drive right to Briere, who slam dunks it into the gaping net, 5-3 with just under two minutes left in the first. Are you kidding me?
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:47 PM
The ridiculousness continues as Clark literally blasts a hole in the net and it's now a 5-4 game with 1:42 left in the first
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:48 PM
The nine goals in this period tie a Flyers record for most combined goals in one period
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:49 PM
JVR fires one at Smith, big rebound by no Flyers there
Stamkos gets dangerously close, kick save Bobrovsky
mplant
11-18-2010, 06:52 PM
Tempers flare as time expires in the first period, but the gloves don't drop. After 20 minutes, the Flyers lead 5-4. That is not a misprint

Timonen's last-second shot deflects high, Lightning win 8-7. Hard to believe, Harry. I guess if you like high-scoring hockey, this was a game for you. Stamkos nets a hat trick and adds two assists, St. Louis collects five assists. Zherdev scored twice for the Flyers, Nodl, Carter, Hartnell, Briere, and Meszaros also lit the lamp.
