After being denied a sweep against the Washington Nationals, the Phillies welcome the Florida Marlins to town for the first meeting between the two teams this season. For the majority of last season, Florida was the main competition for the Phils in the NL East race before an August fade and a late Braves run put them on the backburner. A hot streak in the season's last week got them back to second place in the final standings, six games behind the Phillies
Roy Halladay will make his much-anticipated home debut in the series opener, while Anibal Sanchez takes the mound for Florida. Halladay's spot in the rotation was flip-flopped with Jamie Moyer, who will go on Saturday against Ricky Nolasco. The series concludes on Sunday with a battle of lefties, Cole Hamels for the Phillies, and Nate Robertson for the Marlins
Other stuff: The teams split the 18-game season series last year. The visiting team dominated, with the Phils and Marlins both going 7-2 on the road...Florida got to within 3.5 games of the Phillies last August 10, which was the smallest NL East lead for the Phils at any time after the All-Star break last season...The Marlins have taken the last five series at Citizens Bank Park. The last home series won by the Phillies against the Fish was May 30-June 1, 2008, when they took two of three...The Phillies celebrate Irish Heritage Night for the series opener, with all fans in attendance receiving a green cap...Saturday is Kids Opening Night, with fans 14 and under receiving a Ryan Howard 2009 NLCS MVP collectible ball and tin...Sunday is the Phanatic's 32nd birthday. Kids 14 and under receive a Phanatic jersey

I'll be flipping back and forth between the Flyers and Phillies tonight. Bottom of the 1st 0-0. I think the Marlins are a team that arent too far away from competing in the NL East.

Was at this one. Gotta tell you as Florida kept rallying, that rain just kept getting colder. But a win is a win. Break even over the next two, and it's another series win

Not a good weekend for the phightens. Not a good time for the bats to go silent. Old habits returned with to many man left on base.
Its going to be a battle for the East this year Marlins and Braves will be right there with us. Right now Marlins took early edge and Braves are next.
The Phils can't afford loose 2 of 3 to the Braves this week.

Very True, Very True. I think Atlanta will be our greastest Foe for the Division. A Strong showing against them could go along way.
