It could be an interesting week ahead for the Phillies rotation. Pedro Martinez is close to returning, so let's examine what we have:

Locks:
1) Lee
2) Hamels
3) Blanton

Should be a lock, but my gut tells me to worry about Charlie demoting him:
4) Happ

The question mark:
5) Moyer / Pedro ?

Questions:
* Rumors are that JA Happ could be the odd man out of the rotation. This would set him back in my opinion, and would be the worst case scenario. Why would the Phillies consider removing a young talented and successful pitcher from their rotation?

* Why is Jamie Moyer still in our rotation? Rodrigo Lopez has pitched far better than Jamie, and Happ is 20 years younger with 1/2 the ERA.

* Will Pedro even be considered for the rotation, or he will start out in the bullpen?

Yeah Happ will be the odd man out and will be in the bullpen. He did a good job in the pen earlier this year. I dont think it will have a negative effect on him.

Pedro will be the number 5 starter once activated

Well considering the playoffs will be a 4 man rotation it looks like Happ will be moved to the pen, Martinez might not have the stuff to make it ( he got ROCKED in his last outing), Lopez is just there, and Moyer is bad. Not sure who makes the 4th spot, though it will be interesting to see who gets it.

Wow.

It blows my mind that JA Happ is not the entrenched #4 start on this team. Are you really comfortable with Moyer or the unproven this year Pedro taking the mound in the playoffs? Happ has been nothing less than a star this year.

Jamie Moyer does not determine the outcome of games at this stage of his career-- the umpire calling his games does. If the umpire does not have a large zone, Moyer loses, bottom line.

I think that Happ should be #4, but its a matter of what to do with the other guys. Moyer is NOT going to the Pen, and i really dont think Pedro is either. It just makes more sense, so to keep all players still on the team, it might be the only way.
